They're one case less in their inventory now. Highly recommended.Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07156463613316688705noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6053780638267491912.post-79024560454035523292008-03-21T15:46:00.000-07:002008-03-21T15:46:00.000-07:00Also known as Pinot St. George this wine is grown ...Also known as Pinot St. George this wine is grown in small amounts in CA - mostly Monterey and San Benito Counties. The examples I've had are definitely along the lines of leather and game against darker fruit.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6053780638267491912.post-41790407286088327182008-03-18T09:54:00.000-07:002008-03-18T09:54:00.000-07:00Thanks for the comments about DeRose DJ. It's always so good to hear when one of these old varieties was preserved--so much of our viticultural heritage was lost in Prohibition and then what was left was ripped out to make way for more zinfandel and then cabernet to feed the need for those grapes. Hope I get a chance to share a first experience of the French version with my friend Mark in LA around end of June...thaks for your great writing, good Doctor!viNomadichttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10871310275756229282noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6053780638267491912.post-69272092414383153972008-03-06T11:41:00.000-08:002008-03-06T11:41:00.000-08:00I look forward to hearing about everyone's experie...I look forward to hearing about everyone's experiences with the grape--there's not a lot out there on it, so it's up to us to spread the word. Then it turns out you are posting on it today, and to boot, you are not the only blogger to mention this cuvée in the last 24 hours.

I like the interest you are creating for this style of red wine -- one I find that is typically on the Italian side of Syrah and Grenache blends. I think a dish rich with tomatoes and meaty (with iron, like beef) like you say often brings out the freshly floral and sunny, if sometimes vegetal qualities of Negrette.

CheersMarcushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02221624021529319291noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6053780638267491912.post-79684398242450823072008-03-03T10:41:00.000-08:002008-03-03T10:41:00.000-08:00I'll have to keep a watch for this wine.
